Professor Kamila Czene is Professor in Cancer Epidemiology and Deputy chair at the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics since 2011. The central concept of her research agenda is to acquire a comprehensive picture of the determinants of prognosis in breast cancer patients using high quality epidemiological studies, molecular data and state-of-the-art analyses to combine information on patient and tumor determinants.
Within NorTwinCan collaboration, Swedish group will be involved particularly in analysis associated with inheritance of age at onset for breast cancer and regarding prognostic impact of hereditary factors. Swedish group has a strong publication record associated with these aims in family studies and twin design will very much improve methodological strategies and facilitate the interpretation of findings.
Kamila Czene is a deputy director of the large CRisP Centre financed by Swedish Research Council (“Individualized prediction and prevention of breast and prostate cancer”, PI: Henrik Grönberg.), and co-PI of the KARMA study (the Märit and Hans Rausing Initiative against Cancer, donation awarded to Karolinska Institutet 2010, PI per Hall). From2007,she isa member of the international Breast CancerAssociation Consortium (BCAC).
